Video: Huge Tumor on Stray Cat
While we were taking the video of this cat we noticed another cat carrying her newly born kittens behind a house across the street.

More Kittens in Need of Saving
Three more kittens have been found in need of proper shelter, if anyone can step forward to help them feel free to contact me at 508-332-1447. 12 kittens this year have been saved just from this neighbor's yard alone, these 3 would make 15, just to give people an idea of how out of control the cat population is in this neighborhood. The video of the seven adult cats laying around is also from the same yard.

More Kittens and More Worries in Wareham
As fast as we can bring cats out of this neighborhood and into no-kill shelters they are reproducing even faster. This morning I made a call to the Wareham, Massachusetts police station and let them know that 6 more stray kittens, perhaps born last night, are in a neighbor's yard. I was given to the animal control officer's voice-mail and I left him a message detailing the exact whereabouts of the kittens, but unfortunately he must be very busy because the kittens are still there.
Perhaps if a few volunteers came forward it would give this officer the help he needs to bring an end to this population problem and it will find these animals the homes they deserve. The police have the details if anyone feels generous of their time or resources, there is only so much one person alone can do as I well know.
UPDATED: The kittens in this video have now been saved thanks to a cooperative effort between police and local volunteers.

Wareham's Cat Problem
Two kittens found dead on a neighbor's lawn August 2009
In July 2009 one of my family members was diagnosed as having Lyme's Disease, which doesn't seem out of the ordinary in a rural New England area like Wareham, Massachusetts. This person never goes out into the woods and hardly spends time outside at all... he likely caught it in his own back yard. There is no conclusive proof how his case of Lyme's Disease was contracted, however the stray cats that neighbors have been complaining about for years are provably diseased. Could these cats be passing their illnesses onto your loved ones as well? Being a cat lover and cat owner I only want to see what's best done for these stray cats, starting with getting them the health care they need, and then finding them proper homes so that they will have better lives than what I now see. Winter will be coming soon, I want to see this issue resolved before anyone else gets sick, or any more of these cats die from negligence. Sadly, the humane traps that town officials have laid are underfunded and have only been set twice since July.
Today we were in the back yard and found a kitten that was blinded from disease and were told the police could do nothing until tomorrow, so we took it to a no kill shelter ran on the other side of town called Champs. The woman told us that this kitten might remain blind, but she will give it a good home until a loving owner comes along that doesn't mind its special needs.
